Grand Theft Auto 3
Like the many hardcore Playstation fans, I too was excited at the release of the PS2. It was an advanced gaming system that was meant to take games further. One of the games that takes advantage of that is Grand Theft Auto 3. When I had played the first two I was like "Well the game play is good but the graphics are a little old and not very good." That was because it was a 32-bit system, not a 128-bit like the PS2. Soon after the release of the PS2, game companies had already and started to make games for it. GTA3 was planned almost a year before PS2 was released. And instead of making GTA3 a top view game, Rock Star decided to take the game and enhance it with the 3D look. It was a new perspective for GTA gamers. It had a fresh new look, new design, and new cars, gangs ect.
With the abilities of the PS2 and the use of a enhanced DVD disc Rock Star was able to push the limits of the game itself. They were able to create and design each individual characters face, body and personality. They were able to give each building its own look and shape. Take cars and design fast ones, small or large. One of the best features of the game is the variety of cars and weapons. They have 50 different cars with about 4-5 different versions and some special versions of the cars. It ranges from a sports car to a boat and even, yes the best of them all, a tank. For example: The Patriot, aka a Hummer, has a regular one or one with out a back trunk cover and even one special one that is bullet proof which means it cannot be destroyed by gun. They have a nice variety of weapons in the game. From your fists to a rocket launcher there is no limit to the way you can wreak havoc. Aside from all the excellent features of this wonderful game there are a few bad features. Like the way the cop system works. If there is no cop around and you shoot randomly or kill a person, you automatically get one star. I consider this good because I like to kill the cops so I can get out my frustrations and besides on the first Island you can only get four stars, which is good for a newbie at this game because if you don't know what your doing, you will be killed easily. Now I have found one glitch, which is if you have one star on you and you beat a cop with a bat then you wont get another star. But if you shoot him you will. Over all this game has pushed the limits of the PS2 and brought new perspectives to gaming all together. Besides I can't wait until GTA 3 Miami comes out.
GRAPHICS: 5
I think that overall with all three Islands and the many characters, cars, real time, and other stuff that the graphics are pretty good. Each person has his or her own expressions and movement. The weather is also something that still makes me awe. The fog looks real and at sun rise it will glare like the real sun.
SOUND: 5
The sound of this game just plain rules. Each major character and person has their own voice sound and the cars each sound different. The weather also has sounds for rain and background noises. The best part though is the Radio Stations. With a variety of stations and my personal favorite Chatter Box, the sound is excellent.
CONTROLS: 5
The controls for this game are too easy. They are hard to forget. They are programmable to fit your needs also for those who need to.
FUN FACTOR: 5
This is probably the best game I have ever played. It is fun and hilarious. It has car stealing, the ability to just beat the crap out of a person and better yet it even has the cops, swat, FBI, and military. That's what gives it the edge, besides the cops and others are stupid enough to run off a bridge I'm under.
